ReplyDeleteBlue Devils try to get bowl eligible under first year coach Mike Elko tonight. Eagles are 2-8, but gave Clem's son all they could handle for a half and have a 34-33 win over Louisville on their resume. Probably will be a grinder for most of the night, but Duke's balance on both sides of the ball will give them at least a chance at Independence Bowl in Shreveport (If that bowl still exists?) OVER/UNDER: Number of butts in seats on Chestnut Hill tonite? Number is 4,000.

TENNESSEE 37 GEORGIA 34:
ReplyDelete#1 total offense (Vols) vs. #2 total offense (UGA). Defending champs are ticked off that they haven't lost a game this season, yet aren't #1 in first CFP rankings. HFA will be a factor in Athens. Georgia D is better than Vols D, for sure, but UGA hasn't been tested since opening game vs. Ducks. Missouri and Kent State completed over 60% of their passes vs. Georgia, and Hendon Hooker is best QB on the field today. Hooker comes up with one more big play in 4th than Bennett, and Rocky Top hangs on to the top of CFP mountain.
PITTSBURGH 26 SYRACUSE 23:
MUST win for Panthers as they seek bowl eligibility in the stretch run. Orange are banded up with Garrettt Williams out with an ACL vs. Notre Dame and Garrett Shrader highly questionable. Pitt plays catch up at Heinz Field (never gets old) and gets the dub with a late FG.
ARKANSAS 37 LIBERTY 27:
Hugh Freeze has a new 8 year contract and his 7-1 Flames certainly won't back down at Pig Suey. Liberty can force some TOs, but can also turn the ball over. Arkansas dominant running game should be the difference in the second half.
ALABAMA 37 LSU 23:
Intriguing QB match up betwixt Young and Daniels, but Young is better. Brian Kelly has Bayou Bengals in Top 10 (who would have thought after season opening loss to tFSU?), and, yeah, it's a night game in Baton Rouge. But, Nick Saban has been there before. Bama isn't losing another regular season game.
TEXAS 33 KANSAS STATE 30:
Wildcats are coming off that stunning 48-0 over Pokes. Steve Sarkisian has had 2 weeks to prepare for trip to Little Apple. Ewers has a big day for Hook 'Em as KSU has a letdown game in Little Apple.
CLEMSON 26 NOTRE DAME 16:
CAN Irish win this game? Sure. There is supposed to be quite a bit of rain in South Bend and Touchdown Jesus will be ready. However, Tigers want that #4 slot in CFP and two weeks of rest will help keep their D-line dominant. Tigers dominate clock with run game behind Will Shipley. Who will get more snaps at QB? DJU or Klubnik?
JAMES MADISON 30 LOUISVILLE 27:
Cards come in hot with 3 straight W's (including that drubbing of Deacs last weekend). THAT will be the problem. Up and down UL will have a letdown game and well balanced Dukes will be primed for their first Power 5 win as an FBS member.
WAKE FOREST 34 NC STATE 26:
Deacs coming in off that drubbing at Louisville> Is this a trend, or a one off thing? Dave Clawson wiill have his team focused for sure. Pack's defense is humming. #1 scoring D in ACC and best in 3rd down stops. BIG question is whether frosh QB MJ Morris can build off his second half against Hokies vs. a much better WFU team. Here's saying Morris will play well again, but make a few "freshman mistakes" down the stretch. As long as Deacs keep TOs down, they should get to the winner's circle. OF COURSE... hope I'm wrong! #gopack
