AFTER FURTHER REVIEW: WEEK #8

WEEK #8

1. LSU (7-0)
Joe Burrow is the Gardner Minshew of 2019, seemingly coming out of nowhere to be a Heisman front runner. Tigers passing attack is epic, but the D is not quite what is has been in the past, but still formidable. Quality W's over Hook 'Em and Gator Nation give Bengals slight edge over Bama. Must be careful vs. Auburn in the Bayou, but return of Terrace Marshall helps LSU go to 8-0 before traveling to Bama in two weeks.

2. ALABAMA (7-0)
Tua's high ankle sprain is a little disconcerting, but Tide should breeze at home vs. Pig Suey. A bye weekend will serve Tua well before Bayou Bengals come a callin' on Nov. 9th.

3. OHIO STATE (7-0)
Justin Fields has been a touchdown maker this season and is in thick of the Heisman race. Schedule has been a little meh, but Bucks D coupled with dynamic O should get them to CFP. Wounded Badgers will have tOSU's full attention at THE Shoe this Saturday.

4. CLEMSON (7-0)
Hard to believe some are DISAPPOINTED in T-Law's QBing this season (expectations, expectations, expectations). Dabo's boyz are headed to another CFP. Should be able to beat BC comfortably in Tigertown this weekend.
_________________________________________________________________

5. Oklahoma (7-0)
Jalen Hurts continues to post big numbers, and the D is improved. With a quality W over Texas, you could make the argument Boomer Sooner should be #4. Must be careful at The Little Apple Saturday, but 8-0 almost a certainty.

6. Penn State  (7-0)
Give PSU the edge over Gator Nation after back-to-back Top 25 W's over Iowa and Michigan (however, head to head, I would bet on UF). Must be careful at Sparty this weekend, but if they play their "A game", should win comfortably.

7. Florida (7-1)
Ain't no shame in losin' at LSU.  Have a week off before "The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party".

8. Georgia (6-1)
Dawgs lost their concentration a couple of weeks ago vs. Cocks, but still have one heckuva D. Also get the weekend off before WLOCP.

9. Notre Dame (5-1)
Irish get the slightest of edges over War Eagle. The return of stud RB Jafar Armstrong (out since season opener at UL) should be a BIG lift as ND traverses to the BIG House this weekend.

10. Auburn  (6-1)
AU coming to the Bayou this weekend after a demolishing of Pig Suey. Can War Eagle make a HUGE CFP statement with a W Saturday on CBS???

______________________________________

ALMOST made the cut...

#6 Penn State at Michigan State
(Lions are a 6.5 favorite... what a joke! PSU rolls over Sparty.)

#15 Texas at Texas Christian
(Hook 'Em only a TWO point fav over .500 Horned Frogs??? Don't fall for that...)

Arizona at Stanford
(Should be a close game, but these two teams are fraudulent in this PAC 12 After Dark afternoon match-up.)

Miami at Pittsburgh
(Another important Coastal Chaos game, but THE U can't be on the WEEK 8 slate after Yellow Jackets dropped them to 3-4 last weekend.)

California at #12 Utah
(Utah should be on upset alert, but most likely will get the W. That THREE touchdown line WAY to large in favor of Utes.)

Super Dave Gray's make-up from WEEK 7 (forgot to make a play on Wash-AZ)

2:30 Texas Christian at Kansas State

_________________________________________

 ALMOST made the cut...

#9 Florida at South Carolina
(Gator Nation is only favored by 5, according to Vegas, after Cocks shocking W over UGGA last weekend)

Colorado at Washington State
(High scoring PAC 12 game, but two Top 25 PAC 12 games on the WEEK #8 slate)

Arizona at USC
(Not as much scoring as CU/Wazzu, but CLOSE. Which Khalil Tate will show out?)

Texas Christian at Kansas State
(Two Big 12 teams that need to keep winning to go bowlin' in December)

Iowa State at Texas Tech
(See above...)

Indiana at Maryland
(Sweet memories of ACC/Big 10 + 4 Challenge)

11:00 Washington (4-2) at Arizona (4-1) FS1

NOTE:  Mack 2.0 has this weekend off

 _____________________________

ALMOST made the cut...

#1 Alabama at #24 Texas A&M
(There have been past years where Aggies have had a punchers chance to trip up Tide in College Station, but 2019 is NOT one of them. Just like WEEK 6, I hate to leave a Top 25 match-up off the slate, but this one is like fishin' with dynamite.)

Appalachian State at Louisiana
(HUGE game in the Sun Belt... might have made the WEEK 7 slate if not for it being on a WEDNESDAY!)

Louisville at Wake Forest
(Speaking of tASU, former head ball coach Scott Satterfield has Cards ahead of schedule in rebuilding process. Screamin Demon Deacons are due for an L, but will be too strong for UL at BB&T Stadium)

Iowa State at West Virginia
(IF I WERE a bettin man, I would take Mounties and that too large 10 point Cyclone spread in raucous Morgantown.)

Florida State at #2 Clemson
(This game really shouldn't be on ALMOST made the cut list, RIGHT??? NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND!!!! tFSU probably most talented team left on CU schedule. Tigers should get another W, but that TWENTY SEVEN point spread... Noles a sure bet to make it closer than THAT!!!)

WEEK 6: Saturday October 5th, 2019 COLLEGE FOOTBALL CHALLENGE (sponsored by America's favorite grocery store, WEGMAN'S)

Just something to think about...

There were more people at the grand opening of WEGMAN'S on Sunday (30K) than attend a Duke football game typically.

 WEEK 6:  Saturday, October 5th

__________________________

12:00 #14 Iowa (4-0) at #19 Michigan (3-1) FOX

12:30 Boston College (3-2) at Louisville (2-2) ACC Network Extra

3:30 #7 Auburn (5-0) at #10 Florida (5-0) CBS

3:30 Baylor (4-0) at Kansas State (3-1) ESPN2

3:30 Western Michigan (3-2) at Toledo (3-1) ESPN Plus

3:30 Air Force (3-1) at Navy (2-1) CBS Sports Network

4:00 North Carolina (2-3) at Georgia Tech (1-3) ACC Network

8:00 Pittsburgh (3-2) at Duke (3-1) ACC Network

Chuck's MAKE-UP GAME:

Texas Christian (3-1) at Iowa State (2-2)

(Yours Truly inexplicably forgot to make a play on Clemson @ UNC last weekend... first time ever I believe I have forgot a game... LOL!!!)

NOTE: NC State has a much needed week off...

________________________________________

ALMOST made the cut...

TCU at Iowa State
(I would accept an argument that this game could have been on slate instead of BC-Lou)

#25 Michigan State at #4 THE Ohio State University
(I hate leaving a Top 25 game of the weekly slate, but we ALL know who is goin to win this one... RIGHT???)

California at #13 Oregon
(Tough choice between this one and Northwestern @ Nebraska. David S. Green knows that I'm not big on 1-3 teams on weekly slate, but NW might be best 1-3 team in country based on very difficult schedule. Cal proved themselves a Top 15 fraud last weekend. Ducks favored by almost 3 TDs.)

#11 Texas at West Virginia
(Hook 'Em is a 10 point fav in Morgantown, but must be VERY careful not to take Mounties lightly if they want to stay on the fringes of CFP race.)

#15 Washington at Stanford
(Trees have had a slow start and some injuries. U-Dub has inside track to Pasadena on first day of 2020... when we should all see clearly.)

#21 Oklahoma State at Texas Tech
(Could have been a fun game if Alan Bowman didn't have a bum shoulder for Red Raiders.)
