We wish DSG the best in his rehab and welcome him back with open arms for the 2019 campaign. DSG will seek a medical red shirt, and WILL NOT transfer a la Kelly Bryant.

ALMOST made the cut...

Stanford at California
(Hopefully, when the smoke clears, Bryce Love can get ONE Heisman caliber game in after a season of nagging injuries)

Duke at #2 Clemson
(Devils deserve MUCH better than to be kicked off the CFC slate with a 7-3 record, but unless Trevor Lawrence is ruled academically ineligible and Dabo comes down with the bird flu, we ALL know who is gonna win this one!)

Michigan State at Nebraska
(This could be a GREAT game, with resurgent Children of the Corn showing signs of life, but 3-7 teams have NO bidness being on CFC slate)

Middle Tennessee at Kenucky
(HERE ME NOW!!!... the 7-3 Blue Raiders have a GREAT shot at a W in Lexington!)

Mississippi at Vanderbilt
(Another middle of the road SEC game involving two teams fighting for bowl eligibility)

ALMOST made the cut...

#16 Mississippi State at #1 Alabama
(Hate to leave out a Top 25, but we all know who is gonna win this one... Starkdawgs have given up FEWEST TD's in country this year, but haven't played TuaTide yet)

#24 Auburn at #5 Georgia
(Another Top 25 SEC game we all know who is going to win... hey, BC is ranked higher than Auburn)

#2 Clemson at #17 Boston College
(Eagles think they have a chance at Chestnut Hill... they have a chance to win the 1st quarter, that's it!)

#8 Washington State at Colorado
(Could be closer than you might think, but Wazzu could very well be headed towards CFP with some help. Hope Gardner Minshew continues his torrid pace at QB)

Mississippi at Texas A&M
(Could be a very entertaining game at College Station)

WEEK #10 GAMES: 2018-2019 COLLEGE FOOTBALL CHALLENGE (sponsored by New Zealand's All Black Sevens World Cup Champion Rugby Team & Outback Steakhouse)

3:30 #12 West Virginia (6-1) at #15 Texas (6-2) FOX

7:00 Duke (5-3) at Miami, THE U (5-3) ESPN2

8:00 #1 Alabama (8-0) at #4 LSU (7-1) CBS

NOTE:  An executive decision was made again in WEEK #10 to keep the 1-6 UNC-Cheat Tar Heels off the slate... 1-6 records are a bad look for this blog. DON'T WORRY... UNCTH will be back... for at least a COUPLE games.

________________________________

ALMOST made the cut...

Georgia Tech at North Carolina
(I actually expect this game to be a good one... as most GT/UNC battles are... but there were just too many other good games involving teams with records ABOVE .500 this week)

Pittsburgh at #23 Virginia
(The suddenly resurgent Pitt Panthers and the leader(?) for Coastal Chaos supremacy square off in a big game in Hooville... HOWEVER, we try to avoid TH/FRI games at all costs on CFC when there are plenty of other great options)

#3 Notre Dame at Northwestern
(Speaking of resurgent, the NW Cats are making their patent late season run. COULD this be the end of the road for Irish CFP hopes? VERY LIKELY!!! Everyone would pick ND, though)

Stanford at Washington
(BOTH teams have lost the numbers beside their names, but a HUGE PAC-12 AFTER DARK game, nonetheless!  Will Raleighwood's Finest ever regain his 2017 form? His NFL Draft stock falling?)

South Carolina at Mississippi
(Should be a fun middle of the road SEC game... but Cocks have spend too much time on the CFC slate thus far this season)

Louisiana Tech at #21 Mississippi State
(Bulldawgs from Starkvegas have regained that fancy number beside their name, but LT is one of America's best kept secrets. NOBODY wants to face LT Bulldogs in a bowl game...)

Thursday, October 25, 2018

AFTER FURTHER REVIEW... (WEEK #8)

THE ONLY TOP 10 you need to know...

1. ALABAMA (8-0)
(Bama is off this week... but they will probably still score points. BIG one coming up next weekend at LSU)

2. CLEMSON (7-0)
(RAPID maturation of QB Trevor Lawrence is closing gap between Tigers and Tide. Should be able to handle tFSU fairly easily in Tallahassee, but need to be careful).

3. LSU (7-1)
Bayou Bengals incredibly talented and getting better, but not sure if they are in the same strata as Bama... we will soon find out. LSU taking weekend off with Tide.

4. GEORGIA (6-1)
(No shame in losing at LSU. Dawgs still plenty dangerous, but can't take another L vs. Gator Nation this weekend).

5. Notre Dame (7-0)
(NO, Irish fans, I'm NOT putting ND ahead of UGA cuz they are undefeated. ND barely got past Pitt last time out... better wake up the echos in prime time vs. Midshipmen)

6. Michigan (7-1)
(Wolves have been rollin' since season opening loss to the aforementioned Irish. Ole Miss transfer QB Shea Patterson definitely adapting to the North. Weekend off before they pound PSU at the BIG HOUSE)

7. Texas (6-1)
(Gotta give Hook 'Em coach Tom Herman lots of credit for bringing TX into Top 10 after opening loss to Maryland. Dangerous game in Stillwater this weekend, though)

8. OKLAHOMA (6-1)
(Boomer Sooner still racking up big numbers with the close loss to TX being only blemish on record. Kansas State will be NO problem Saturday in Norman)

9. FLORIDA (6-1)
(Gator Nation cemented a place in Top 10 with W over LSU, but looked a little shaky at Vandy. W over UGA would bring UF dangerously close to Top 5)

10. OHIO STATE (7-1)
REALLY wanted to put the defending national champs here, but UCF really hasn't played anyone in 2018. Fraudulent Urban Meyer and tOSU got BOAT RACED by Purdue last weekend, but are 7-1. Weekend off for soul searching for Bucks)

_________________________________________________________

RANKING THE  #goacc...

1. CLEMSON (7-0)
(Trevor Lawrence is the next big thang... looks like another showdown in CFP with Tide)

2. NC STATE  (5-1)
(Time for the new age Wolfpack football to respond well at Syracuse after disappointing showing in Tigertown)

3. VIRGINIA (5-2)
(Win over THE U puts Hoos here... can't believe it!!!)

4. MIAMI  (5-2)
(Lots of talent, but gotta figure out that QB situation...)

5. SYRACUSE (5-2)
(BIG game at THE DOME vs. NCS after L to Pitt and shaky W over UNC-Cheat)

6. VIRGINIA TECH (4-2)
(Loss to ODU and very close shave W at Chapel Hill hurts Hokies argument)

7. BOSTON COLLEGE (5-2)
(You could make argument VT & BC should be flipped... BC can take care of that with W over THE U Friday nite)

8. DUKE (5-2)
(Blew a big opportunity at Wallace Wade vs. UVA... gotta get a W at Heinz Field Saturday)

9.  FLORIDA STATE (4-3)
(Noles slowly crawling back... but Clem's son is gonna be a problem)

11. PITTSBURGH (3-4)
(W over Cuse gives Panthers street cred. CLOSE loss to ND was impressive)

12. WAKE FOREST (3-4)
(Deacs playing less D than Danny Manning's hoops teams...)

13. NORTH CAROLINA (1-5)
(Would GT hire Larry Fedora?)

14. LOUISVILLE (2-5)
(An absolute grease fire Bobby Petrino has on his hands...)

ALMOST made the cut...
_____________________

North Carolina at Virginia
(Heels are going to get someone after close L's vs. VT and Cuse... but 9 1/2 point spread for UVA scared me off)

Northern Illinois at BYU
(A couple of solid 4-3 teams keep inching closer to bowl eligibility... but time is gettin' short)

#20 Wisconsin at Northwestern
(Cats always seem to rebound nicely after a slow start to the season... BIG opportunity here)

#12 Kentucky at Missouri
(UK Cats still locking at a dream season... certainly a W in Columbia not a LOCK)

#6 Texas at Oklahoma State
(Pokes don't have a number beside their name, but tough game for resurgent Hook 'Em in Stillwater)

Arizona State at USC
(Coaching genius HERM EDWARDS leads Sun Devils to injury plagued Trojans. Former Duke recruit... #3 high school QB Jack Sears who flipped at last minute... gets first start after SC's top 2 signal callers out with injuries)

(Twerps have that season opening W over Hook 'Em in their back pocket)

Vanderbilt at #14 Kentucky
(Cats still have the look of a very special season... must be wary of stingy Commodores)

Arizona at UCLA
(Chip Kelly FINALLY got a W, but 1-5 teams don't deserve a spot on CFC slate... might be a better game than you think, though)

Minnesota at Nebraska
(Wonder if Scott Frost wishes he were back at UCF? Nebby is actually a 4 point home fav, but 0-6 teams don't deserve a spot on CFC slate)

____________________________________

ALMOST made da cut...

Michigan State at #8 Penn State
(Sneaky close game... as many between these two are... OR Nittany Lions blowout?)

#16 Miami (THE U) at Virginia
(Hoos need a signature win for 2018... not sure this is the one)

#17 Florida at Vanderbilt
(Gators can be had in Nashville after big LSU win letdown... Commodores need signature W as well)

#6 West Virginia at Iowa State
(Heisman leader(?) Will Grier and the highly ranked Mounties are ONLY a 6 point fav in Ames)

#10 Central Florida at Memphis
(Knights could very well be headed for a 2nd straight "national championship", but Tigers can keep up offensively... could be a record number of total points in this one).

ALMOST made the cut...

Syracuse at Pittsburgh
(Can't believe Orange only a 4 point fav by Vegas... Cuse is a VERY good team!)

Florida State at #17 Miami (THE U)
(Canes should roll, but Noles seem to be gaining a LITTLE traction under Willie Taggart)

#8 Auburn at Mississippi State
(Nick Fitzgerald and the Starkdawgs due for a breakout, maybe that's why War Eagle only favored by THREE???)

Navy at Air Force
(Solid Military Institute game, but teams with 1-3 records rarely make CFC slate... eh, Falcons?)

Maryland at #15 Michigan
(Twerps did whup up on Hook 'Em to open the season...)

7:00 Florida Atlantic at Middle Tennessee
10:30 USC at Arizona

 ____________________________________________

  ALMOST made cut...

UNC at #16 Miami (THE U)
(Had to made a rare executive decision to kick a Triangle Area team off the 10 game slate cuz there are WAY too may legit games this week... Heels will be back on in TWO weeks after their bye week)

Syracuse at #3 Clemson
(Battle of two undefeated #goacc teams, but we ALL know who is goin' to win this one! Frosh phenom QB Trevor Lawrence and that awesome D should pile up some points on Orange after that wacky loss at THE DOME last year)

Army at Buffalo
(Army could have beaten Boomer Sooner in Norman last weekend... UB just two W's away from bowl eligibility ALREADY!)

#18 Texas at Kansas State
(Hook 'Em suddenly gaining some traction after L to Twerps to open the season... never easy at Bill Synder Family Stadium, however)

USC at Arizona
(Neither team with a number to the left of their name, but lots of young talent on both rosters. Key PAC 12 After Dark game)

ALMOST made the cut...

#8 Notre Dame at Wake Forest
(Deacs have a chance... they  REALLY do!!!)

Minnesota at Maryland
(Another garden variety ACC/Big 10 + 4 Challenge game... HA!)

#14 Mississippi State at Kentucky
(After finally beating Gators, a win over 14th ranked Starkdawgs and UK becomes a "football school")

#24 Michigan State at Indiana
(Sparty shouldn't have a number to the left of their name after losing to football genius Herm Edwards. Hoosiers could very well remove that number this weekend).

Washington State at USC
(Speaking of numbers to the left of their names... this game used to have them. Should be a good one that flies under national radar)

Texas Tech at Oklahoma State
(Anyone ever heard of Alan Bowman???)

WEEK #3 GAMES: 2018-2019 COLLEGE FOOTBALL CHALLENGE (sponsored by New Zealand's All Black Sevens World Cup Champion Rugby Team & Outback Steakhouse)

WEEK #3

Saturday, September 15th

12:00 Florida State (1-1) at Syracuse (2-0) ESPN

12:30 Georgia Tech (1-1) at Pittsburgh (1-1) ACC Network

3:30 Duke (2-0) at Baylor (2-0) FS1

3:30 #17 Boise State (2-0) at #24 Oklahoma State (2-0) ESPN

8:00 #4 Ohio State (2-0) at #15 Texas Christian (2-0) ABC

8:00 #22 USC (1-1) at Texas (1-1) FOX

10:00 #10 Washington (1-1) at Utah (2-0) ESPN

10:30 #23 Arizona State (2-0) at San Diego State (1-1) CBSSN

NC STATE & UNC-Cheat will be at home on da couch cuz of Fraudulent Flo (at least fraudulent in the Triangle Area). In all seriousness... thoughts and prayers go out to Wilmington, Fayetteville, and the state of South Carolina. They will need a lot of clean-up assistance.

___________________________________________

ALMOST made the cut...

Brigham Young at #6 Wisconsin
(Jazzy Jeff's Cougs are off to a stellar 2-0 start... and although I think the 3 TD spread in favor of Badgers is TOO large... it was large enough not to make the ten. Could be a closer game than you think).

Ohio at Virginia
(Has the makings of a low-tier December bowl game... maybe).

Fresno State at UCLA
(Could be a really close, hard to pick game... Chip Kelly will get Bruins rollin' sometime soon).

Hawaii at Army
(Rainbow Warriors are lookin' to start 4-0... but that's a long plane fight to NY).

North Texas at Arkansas
(See Ohio-UVA descriptor).

ALMOST made the cut...

Memphis at Navy
(Should be an Arena Footballish score... Navy got bombed by Hawaii last weekend, though).

Virginia at Indiana
(ACC/Big 10 + 4 Challenge).

#13 Penn State at Pittsburgh
(Nittany Lions should come away with W #2, but after last week... #goacc).

#15 Michigan State at Arizona State
(SNEAKY good game... things always get a little CrAzY in Tempe).

Utah at Northern Illnois
(Another chance for da MAC to show some muscle... Utes probably too strong).

ALMOST made the cut...

#23 Texas at Maryland
(Despite crap going on in College Park, Twerps could give Horns a run for awhile. Is Hook 'Em back?)

Mississippi at Texas Tech
(Could be some high numbers in this one)

Appalachian State at #10 Penn State
(Would love to see another Mounty Miracle over a Big 10 + 4 school, a la 2007. Does Appy State have a shot now that Barkley is with the New York Football Giants?)

Louisville vs. #1 Alabama
(Just couldn't do it. Does anybody think Cards have a shot without Lamar "Action" Jackson?) #goacc

Navy at Hawaii
(Mad respect for the peeps in the Aloha State right now after Lane. I wonder if this game will even be played?)
